A masterpiece of direction, great atmosphere, and visuals, a near-perfect movie that is still
very engrossing no matter how many times I watch it.
Summery
Halfway through their voyage home, the crew of the commercial spacecraft Nostromo is roused
from its cryo-sleep capsules to investigate a distress signal from an alien vessel in deep space.
When the team discovers a clutch of eggs within the alien ship, the panic begins. One of the
crewmembers fall into a coma after a creature from within an egg burst out and attaches
itself to him.

Great atmosphere and suspense, A group of scientists in Antarctica accidentally unleash a
shape-shifting Alien. Being set in Antarctica helps to create a brilliant feeling of isolation, one
of my favorite films of all time.
Summery
A shape-shifting extraterrestrial hunts a research team in Antarctica, taking on the
appearance of its victims. Early winter 1982, a US research outpost in Antarctica... After a
period, becomes clear that the extraterrestrial can take over and merge into
various life forms, including people, spreading like a virus.
3. Aliens 1986

Great sequel, great actors and direction, many memorable lines and scenes, one of the most
atmospheric and tense movies I have ever seen.
Summery
A deep space salvage crew discovers Lt. Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) spacecraft after drifting in space for 57 years. When the marines arrive at LV-426, they find out just one
survivor, a nine-year-old girl called Newt (Carrie Henn). But the hundreds of aliens that have
invaded the colony are no match for even these battle-hardened soldiers with the newest
equipment.

4. The Shining 1980

A very creepy atmosphere to this movie. It has a unique feel unlike anything I
have ever seen, plus Jack Nicholson is fantastic in his role.
Summery
Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) takes a job as the winter caretaker at the remote Overlook
Hotel in Colorado to break free from his writer's block. He moves in with his wife,
Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), suffer from paranormal
visions. Jack finds the hotel's dark secrets and disintegrates into a violent lunatic
hell-bent on frightening his family. His writing goes nowhere, and Danny's eyes get
increasingly horrific.
5. Halloween 1978

Best of the Halloween series and the first of the modern slasher movies, setting the rules and
the standards for other slasher movies to follow.
Summery
Michael Myers, six years old at the time, viciously killed his 17-year-old sister, Judith, on a
frigid Halloween night in 1963. He was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
However, on October 30, 1978, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and flees Smith's
Grove while being moved for a court hearing. He returns to Haddonfield, Illinois, his tranquil
hometown, where he searches for his next victims.
6. Evil dead 2 1987

A fantastically entertaining movie includes some of the scariest and weirdest looking monsters
and demons I have ever seen, yet comical at the same time. Contains some great memorable
moments.
Summery
In the second of three Evil Dead films, Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) battles terrifying demons at a lonely cabin in the woods, which is half horror and part comedy. Following the
discovery of an audiotape left by a college lecturer containing voices reading from the
Book of the Dead, Ash's girlfriend Linda (Denise Bixler) is possessed by demonic spirits
awoken by the sounds on the tape. Ash quickly learns that there is no way out of the
woods.
7. Saw 2004

A really well-made and clever horror film, I was totally immersed in this movie, superb
atmosphere, its success was responsible for many sequels.
Summery
While shackled to pipes at opposite ends of a filthy lavatory, photographer Adam Stanheight
(Leigh Whannell) and oncologist Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) recover consciousness. As the two
men learn they've been imprisoned by a vicious serial murderer known only as "Jigsaw" and must solve
his bizarre puzzle to survive, flashbacks reveal the fates of his past victims. Dr. Gordon's wife
(Monica Potter) and little daughter (Makenzie Vega) are forced to witness his torture on closed-circuit
television.
8. Insidious 2010

A favorite recent scary movie, one of the scariest movies I have ever seen, the feel of the film
and the paranormal events gave me chills.
Summery
When their new house appears to be haunted, and their unconscious kid (Ty Simpkins) is
possessed by an evil spirit, the parents (Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne) take extraordinary
measures.
9. A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984

One of the most memorable and recognizable movie monsters of all time, at the time a very
original horror and one of my favorite movie characters.
Summery
In Wes Craven's famous slasher thriller, a group of Midwestern teens is preyed upon by
Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a hideous nocturnal mangler who preys on the
youngsters in their dreams, killing them in real life. Nancy (Heather Langenkamp)
suspects that a terrible secret concealed by her and her friends' parents may be the key
to solve the riddle after examining the phenomena, but will Nancy and her lover Glen
(Johnny Depp) solve the problem before it's too late?
10. Dawn of the dead (Original 1978)

The father of the modern zombie movie, It's showing its age now, but it has influenced some
great recent Zombie Movies.
Summery
As hordes of zombies rush over the United States, the panicked people attempt all they can to

may be humanity's final stand, the gang retires to the safe haven of an enclosed shopping
complex.
